“His love leaves the 99 to find the 1 every time, and, to many practical adults, that’s a foolish concept. ‘But what if He loses the 99 to find the 1?’ Right? What if finding that 1 lost sheep is, and always will be supremely important? His love isn’t cautious, it’s a love that sent His own son to die a gruesome death on a cross. There’s no plan B with the love of God. He gives His heart so completely, so preposterously, that, if refused, we would think it irreparably broken. Yet He gives himself away again, and again, and again, and again, time and time again.” -Cory Asbury
Alex and this ministry is one I will store up in my heart, and cherish it dearly for the rest of my life. His entire ministry is solely focused on the out-casted, rejected from society, lonely and brokenhearted; he leaves the 99 to find the 1. Just like Jesus. He not only reflects Jesus out in public, but even more so when no one is looking. What a beautiful leader to walk alongside, what a privilege to learn from him.
I apologize for lack of communication from me. Our Wifi situation is hard- I will never take for granted good Wifi again ha! But our days are fully consumed with ministry. Whether we are doing home visits with people in need, packaging rice for families to eat, shopping for families who need food for that week, praying for those on the streets of Mixco, worshipping with families, helping out at the church, playing with the children or putting on events for the women of Mixco. Every day is beautiful and full of The Lord- but the ministry is very heavy at times. The home visits (which are my favorite) are both intensely hard on my heart but also filled with hope. Some of the stories I have heard would blow your mind. The families of Mixco have faced hardships that I, more than likely, will never face in my life. And yet, they press on with their faith. Wow.
At one point in each of their stories, they all have something in common. They were the 1. They were the sheep off alone by themselves, wanting and needing help. Needing someone to come and rescue them- to take care of them. We have all been the 1. You. Me. The people of Mixco. The people everywhere. Thankfully, Jesus is here to get us, rescue us, take care of us and make us whole.
“Jesus leaving the 99 to find the 1 seems illogical, irrational and senseless-until that 1 is you.”
We are only here for about 10 more days, and my heart is already dreading that goodbye. This is the kind of ministry I would gladly love to financially support one day- Alex and his family truly have a heart like Christ. May we all reflect Him daily.
After we leave Guate, sadly we will not be going to Peru. (Maybe one day I will go and steal an Alpaca) But instead we are going to Honduras! Ya’ll God must really want me in Honduras because this will be my 4th time there! I have no idea what I will be doing or where I will be staying but once I know I will let you all know too!
Prayers please as we finish out our time here. Prayers for safe travels to debrief and to Honduras. Also prayers for our new teams! We are going to be having team changes, and while I am excited to be around different people on my squad, my heart is very sad to say goodbye to the wonderful women of Gracefully Broken.
Love you all!!
Here is where we have been staying! The top half of the house is where my team lives!
If you didn’t know…ya girl climbed a Volcano!!!! It was insane, intense, exhausting and rewarding.
Here is what home visits look like. Bringing food. Hearing their story. Worshipping and praying over them. This picture is a real moment in the time at the home visits. The tears are real, the heartache is real and the compassion is real.
Here are the ladies of Gracefully Broken! I will have to write a post about these girls when I have time. But oh man I love them dearly, and have cherished these past 4 months with you!!!
